Both photographs were taken in Pasadena, California in 2009 – My Mother on the left and my Aunt Cele on the right; we were shopping with my cousin and myself for my brother’s upcoming wedding. Having a “girls” day shopping with our Moms and having a very fun time. The photo on the bottom caught us laughing so hard, because my Mom and my Aunt both put on the same blazer and we said they looked like Flight Attendants.

These women were related by marriage not blood, but remained close for over 62 years.

So here’s to girlfriends, sisterhood, and staying close even after you change your name.
