This past weekend we celebrated my older brother’s round birthday, Round birthdays are quite the source of much celebration. My family likes to gather friends and family to help celebrate milestones such as 40, 50, 60 and so on. My brother Gary, turned 60 years young, and a few of us got up to speak about him or “roast him” and make some jokes.
We all had a wonderful time bringing up antics from his past 59 years; and since both of his daughters were present along with my parents in their eighties we kept everything above board.
We also posted pictures in the living room of his former years and had a running slide show of the more adorable pictures in the study.
My brother graduated from high school in 1971 and he was a product of his generation, he loved the music of the 70’s and played the Guitar and rode a motorcycle. He definitely was all Southern California all of the time. I was lucky to have two brothers and both of them I am still very close to today. We are certainly fortunate to say our family are also are friends. I am still very proud of my big brother and admire his work as a college professor and a clinical director at a Human Services Shelter.
